You can add horizontal rules to a document to separate different parts of an email, calendar entry or other Notes document. You can add a horizontal rule only in a rich-text field.

You can set properties for horizontal rules. For example, here is a horizontal rule, using gradient colors and 3D shading:

Horizontal Rule

To add a horizontal rule

  1. While creating or editing a document, put you cursor where you want the line and then click Create > Horizontal Rule.
  2. Optional: Click the horizontal rule, and then click Horizontal Rule > Horizontal Rule Properties.
  3. Click the Info tab and make any of these changes:

    Change the height of the line
    In the Size section, adjust the height in inches in the Height field.
    Change the width of the line
    In the Size section, for Width select one of the following, and then adjust the amount:
    • Fixed width - sets the horizontal rule to the specified number of inches, regardless of the width of the document.
    • Percent - specifies the percentage of the horizontal rule's width to use.
    Have a flat border around the horizontal rule
    In the Fill section, select No 3D shading.
    Add color to a horizontal rule
    In the Fill section, click a pattern button next to the Color field (solid or top to bottom gradient).

    Click the arrow in the Color field, and then click the transparency button. Transparency button

Notes about adding color

  • Gradient color is color that blends and fades into another color within a table cell or horizontal rule. You can customize colors by using the color wheel button in the top right corner of the Color box. Color wheel
  • To set the color of your horizontal rule to your system's color scheme, click the arrow in the Color field, then click the System button. System color button
